Every time I’ve watched this, I’ve struggled to rerate it because there really is nothing wrong with it. It’s well-paced, well-made, is consistent and entertaining.. But I never get that ‘holy feck this is the best thing I’ve ever seen’ feeling when I watch it. So I’m finally downrating this from a 10.

However, that doesn’t mean I think any less of the film. It does have a few small flaws; it feels a little episodic and at times feels like a play. I also never liked the ‘Michael in Sicily’ stuff, except for when the car blows up. Besides that, everything else is pretty flawless. The acting is great (from most), the story is interesting (especially considering I can’t stand mafia films), and it looks fantastic. It just doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy.

Every time I’ve gone to rewatch the first two films, I never get around to the second one, so this was my 4th watch of Part 1.. and now I’ll be getting onto my 2nd watch of Part 2.
